Brazil's events market hits R$813.5 bn as gastronomy becomes central to experience

Brazil's events sector generated R$813.5 billion in 2024, accounting for about 4.6% of the country's gross domestic product. Food services are a direct component of the sector’s production chain, reflecting its rapid expansion.

Chef executive Manoela Zarzur of Espaço Wood explains that gastronomy has moved from a functional role to the core of the event experience, shaping personality, storytelling and emotions. She emphasizes that the quality of an event depends on consistent processes rather than the size of the gathering.

The shift mirrors a broader "experience economy" in which emotional connection, authentic memories and personalized storytelling outweigh visual grandeur. Event professionals are now expected to coordinate menu, service, infrastructure and logistics, and to listen closely to client narratives to create lasting experiences.
