Brazil's ExpoCrato and ExpoFRAN End with Celebrations, Boost Local Economies

The ExpoCrato fair in Crato, Ceará concluded on Sunday, July 19, marking its largest and most inclusive edition yet. Organizers highlighted the event’s growth despite political attacks on Mayor André Barreto and federal deputy Yury do Paredão, accusing opponents of using the fair for petty electoral gains.

In Porto Franco, Maranhão, the 29th ExpoFRAN 2026 also wrapped up on July 19 with a free concert by Cavalheiros do Forró. The nine‑day exhibition attracted roughly 100,000 visitors, generated over 2,000 direct and indirect jobs, and moved more than R$ 4 million in business, including a R$ 2 million livestock auction. Local officials praised the fair’s role in strengthening agribusiness, commerce, tourism and regional employment.

Both events underscore the importance of agricultural expos for their respective local economies and highlight the interplay of cultural celebration and economic activity in Brazil’s interior regions.
