Brazil's Expressão de Ecologia award recognizes ACIF and Afubra
The 32nd edition of the Prêmio Expressão de Ecologia was presented in Florianópolis, Brazil, at the Antonieta de Barros Auditorium of the State Legislative Assembly. The ceremony honored ACIF for its recycling initiatives, including oil and e‑waste management, highlighting the organization’s role in promoting circular economy practices in Santa Catarina.
Afubra, the Association of Brazilian Tobacco Growers, also received the award for its Verde é Vida program, which marks 35 years of environmental education and rural sustainability. The program has reached more than 200 municipalities, involving thousands of students and teachers, and contributes to regional economic development through sustainable agricultural practices and forest restoration.
Both recognitions underscore the growing emphasis on socio‑environmental responsibility among Brazilian NGOs and institutions, reinforcing the importance of waste management, education, and sustainable development in the country’s southern states.
