Brazil's Federal District rolls out major public infrastructure projects

The Distrito Federal government announced two large‑scale infrastructure initiatives. The Department of Traffic (Detran‑DF) unveiled a 15,000‑square‑meter complex in Asa Norte that will house administrative, operational and public‑service units, a technology centre, a data centre, auditoria, and employee facilities such as a gym and daycare. Director‑General Marcu Bellini said the project aims to cut rental costs, improve service integration and modernise the agency.

Governor Celina Leão signed orders to begin construction of five specialised police battalions – including a shock unit, canine unit, traffic, ROTAM and BOPE – plus a new bus terminal at Jardim Botânico. The battalions are slated for completion within 18 months, while the terminal is expected by the end of 2027. Additional works include water, sewage and street‑lighting upgrades in several neighbourhoods, representing over 160 million reais in investments.
