Brazil's Federal Highway Police bust contraband in Goiás and Paraná
On July 8, Federal Highway Police (PRF) stopped a postal truck on the BR‑153 in Professor Jamil, Goiás, after detecting tampered seals. Officers found a 32‑year‑old man concealed inside a cargo box and arrested him along with the 27‑year‑old driver on suspicion of a theft scheme involving the truck’s merchandise.
The following day, July 9, PRF agents pursued a 58‑year‑old suspect attempting to flee a checkpoint on the BR‑277 near Cascavel, Paraná. The man was transporting contraband electronics, including hundreds of smartwatches valued at roughly R$ 100 000, on a Can‑Am Spyder three‑wheeled vehicle. After a high‑speed chase, he lost control, struck a tree, and was taken to hospital before being transferred to police custody. Both the seized goods and the vehicles were handed over to the Federal Revenue service.
