Brazil's Federal Highway Police seize illegal weight‑loss drugs and wildlife on intercity buses

The Federal Highway Police (PRF) arrested a 32‑year‑old woman on a São Paulo‑to‑Rio de Janeiro bus near Caçapava after finding about 1,490 ampoules of prohibited weight‑loss medications, including tirzepatida and nandrolone. The drugs, valued at roughly R$185 000 in Paraguay, were concealed in a backpack and hidden against the passenger’s body. The woman was taken to the Federal Police station in São José dos Campos without being handcuffed.

In a separate operation on the BR‑163 highway near Santarém, Pará, PRF officers discovered 317 wild birds being transported illegally in the cargo compartment of an inter‑state bus. Two passengers were detained on suspicion of violating wildlife‑trafficking laws and were transferred to the local civil police station. No physical restraints were used during either arrest.
