Brazil's FGTS profit distribution of over R$14 billion slated for August 2026
The Federal Guarantee Fund for Workers (FGTS) will distribute an estimated R$14‑15 billion of profit from the 2025 fiscal year to eligible Brazilian workers. The profit, amounting to roughly 95% of the fund’s earnings, will be credited automatically by Caixa Econômica Federal to all accounts that held a positive balance on 31 December 2025. The deposits are scheduled to be completed by 31 August 2026, and the amount each worker receives will be proportional to the balance in their account.
Workers born in July can also access the FGTS “birthday withdrawal” starting 1 July 2026, with the withdrawal window running until 30 September 2026. This annual option allows eligible workers to withdraw a percentage of their FGTS balance once each year during their birth month.
Both measures affect millions of Brazilians—over 235 million accounts are expected to receive the profit distribution, and the July‑birthday withdrawal opens access for another large cohort of formal‑sector employees.
