Caixa starts distributing R$13 bn FGTS profit to 138 million Brazilian workers FAST-MOVING
The Fundo de Garantia do Tempo de Serviço (FGTS) recorded a profit of R$ 14.7 billion for 2025, the second‑largest in its history. The Conselho Curador approved the distribution of 89 % of that profit – R$ 13.04 billion – to all workers who held a balance in any FGTS account on 31 December 2025, amounting to roughly 138.2 million people.
Caixa Econômica Federal is crediting the amounts automatically into the linked FGTS accounts; no request or registration is required. Each credit equals 0.01868341 of the individual’s account balance, i.e., about 1.87 % of the balance (R$ 18.68 for a R$ 1 000 balance). The distribution raises the overall return on FGTS accounts to 6.9 %, surpassing the 2025 inflation rate of 4.26 %.
The credit remains in the FGTS account and can be withdrawn only under the situations defined by law, such as dismissal without cause, retirement, purchase of a home, serious illness, or the optional anniversary withdrawal. The deposits are scheduled to be completed by the end of August 2026 and can be consulted through the FGTS mobile app, Internet Banking, or at Caixa branches.
