Brazil advances gender inclusion in finance sector
Milene Dellatore, executive and partner at fintech firm MIDE, said Brazil’s financial market continues to deter women because of limited access, a male‑dominated culture and a lack of open discussion about money. She noted that only about 7 % of Brazilian CPF holders have brokerage accounts, with an even smaller share of women, and that women on MIDE’s platform withdraw funds more frequently and face extra scrutiny.
Débora Freire, secretary of Economic Policy at the Ministry of Finance, spoke at a women‑economists seminar in Manaus, stressing the need for public policies that promote sustainable development and reduce gender and racial inequalities. She highlighted existing measures such as equal‑pay legislation, minimum quotas for women on state councils and a target to raise female representation in senior management, and presented the Brazilian Sustainable Taxonomy and the Ecological Transformation Plan aimed at fostering a more inclusive, sustainable economy.
