Brazil faces debate over motherhood as actress reveals postpartum depression and government booklet language sparks back

Actress Letícia Colin spoke openly about her experience in the months after the birth of her son during the Covid-19 pandemic, describing what she believes was an undiagnosed case of postpartum depression. At the same time, Brazil’s health ministry has drawn criticism for the new "Caderneta da Gestante" that replaces the word "mãe" with the gender‑neutral term "pessoas que gestam".
