Brazil's Gás para Todos program provides free cooking gas refills
The Brazilian federal government's 'Gás para Todos' program provides free 13kg cooking gas refills to selected low-income families. To qualify, household income must not exceed half a minimum wage per person. For 2026, with a minimum wage of R$ 1,621, this limit is R$ 810.50 per resident.
Beneficiaries receive a specific voucher for gas refills rather than direct cash transfers. The number of annual refills depends on family size: families with two or three members may receive four refills per year, while those with four or more members can receive up to six.
Several factors can lead to the suspension or loss of the benefit, including: • Outdated information in the CadÚnico registry (must be updated every two years). • Changes in address or income that are not reported. • Household income exceeding the established threshold. • Irregularities with the individual's CPF at the Federal Revenue Service. • Failure to use the allocated resource within 120 days, which causes the funds to return to the National Treasury.
