Brazil's Health Ministry allocates R$137.6 million to Pará health projects

The Brazilian Ministry of Health announced an investment package of R$137.6 million for the state of Pará. The funding, presented by Health Minister Alexandre Padilha in Belém, includes resources for the Novo PAC Saúde program, new medical equipment for the University Hospital João de Barros Barreto (HUJBB), and the activation of the hospital for gene‑therapy treatment of spinal muscular atrophy type 1.

Key components of the plan are the "Pix da Saúde" initiative, which will finance 10 construction projects across eight municipalities, the provision of 71 vehicles under the "Agora Tem Especialistas" program to transport patients for radiotherapy and dialysis, and the deployment of mobile dental units. Additional equipment such as ventilators, multiparameter monitors and surgical arches will modernize the HUJBB, while a new tomograph will be installed in Cametá. The Ministry also confirmed a R$14.8 million contribution to the regional genomics centre, bringing total genome‑SUS funding to about R$14.8 million.
