Brazil's Hemorio Extends Free‑Transport Blood Donation Campaign

In June, Brazil's nationwide "Junho Vermelho" campaign highlights the health benefits and challenges of blood donation, warning that frequent donors—especially women of child‑bearing age—may experience temporary iron deficiency. Health experts advise donors to maintain a balanced diet and seek medical guidance when needed.

To boost donations, Rio de Janeiro's Hemorio has prolonged its "Rota Solidária" initiative through Sunday, offering free public‑transport tickets and ride‑share coupons to donors. The program, which has already facilitated more than 700 donations, aims to remove transportation barriers and encourage regular giving. Director‑general Luiz Amorim emphasized the importance of sustained donor participation, while volunteers shared personal motivations for supporting the cause.
