Brazil's HMAP Hospital in Aparecida de Goiânia honored as leading elective surgery center

The Hospital Municipal de Aparecida de Goiânia Iris Rezende Machado (HMAP), administered by the Sociedade Beneficente Israelita Brasileira Albert Einstein, received an honor from the Associação Médica de Goiás on 20 June for its national leadership in elective surgeries. The recognition follows Health Minister Alexandre Padilha’s statement during a 30 May visit that HMAP is the Brazilian hospital performing the most elective procedures.

From January 2025 through June 2026 the hospital reported roughly 10,000 elective surgeries, helping reduce waiting lists and expand access under the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Mayor Leandro Vilela highlighted the achievement as evidence of recent public‑health investments, while Director Pedro Vieira emphasized the hospital’s mission to provide safe, timely care. During the minister’s visit a new surgical suite was inaugurated, further increasing the centre’s capacity for complex procedures.

The honor underscores HMAP’s role as a reference for both Aparecida de Goiânia and the wider state of Goiás, illustrating how efficient management and partnerships can improve public‑health outcomes.
