Brazil's humanoid robot team heads to Beijing for World Humanoid Robot Games

Brazil will send a six‑member team of students and researchers to compete in the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, China, from 22 to 26 August. The delegation will take part in the Humanoid Adult Size Soccer competition, the tournament’s most technically demanding event. The squad, drawn from five Brazilian universities – USP, UFPE, CEIA‑UFG, UNEB and FEI – is coached by Flavio Tonidandel, who aims to improve on the team’s fifth‑place finish at the previous edition. Tonidandel said the goal is to demonstrate Brazil’s ability to match leading robotics centers worldwide. All participants will use humanoid robots supplied by the organizers, ensuring equal conditions across teams. Brazil’s participation highlights the country’s growing expertise in advanced robotics and its ambition to contend with established programs from China, Germany and other nations.
