Brazil's INSS Announces New Vacancy Classifications and Extra Weekend Slots
The Federal Government published the classification of 194 vacancies for INSS analyst positions, combining 34 remanent slots with 160 additional ones authorized by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. A separate CPNU 2 edital called 702 candidates, including the same 194 INSS analyst openings.
The INSS also scheduled a large weekend service surge: 9,942 extra slots in the Northeast (2,047 agency appointments and 7,895 medical examinations) for 1–2 August, and 792 slots in Porto Alegre for medical and social evaluations on the same weekend.
In parallel, the government released R$ 547 million to reimburse retirees and pensioners for irregular benefit deductions uncovered in Operation Sem Desconto. An audit revealed a perito rejected 97 % of benefit requests, prompting the temporary suspension of 167 medical examiners.
Additional guidance was issued for retirees: they may request a revision of their benefits online via Meu INSS within ten years, and new 2026 retirement rules raise age and points thresholds for future claimants.
