Brazil's INSS sets June payment schedule and deadline for contesting unauthorized deductions

Millions of retirees and pensioners receiving benefits from Brazil's Instituto Nacional do Seguro Social (INSS) will start receiving their June 2025 payments on Wednesday. The payment calendar follows the final digit of the benefit card (excluding the verification digit). Beneficiaries whose card ends in 1‑5 will be paid in the last five business days of the month, while those ending in 6‑9 or 0 will receive their funds in the early days of the following month's schedule. The INSS advises beneficiaries to check dates via the official website, the Meu INSS app, or the 135 call center.

A separate deadline ends on Saturday, 20 July, for retirees and pensioners to contest unauthorized association fees that were deducted from their benefits. The contest is required to join an extrajudicial reimbursement agreement approved by the Supreme Court on 3 July 2025. The government reports that more than R$ 3.2 billion has already been returned to 4.7 million people affected by the illegal deductions. Those who successfully contest the charges will have the refunded amount deposited in their bank accounts within three business days, with automatic credit for indigenous, quilombola, and elders over 80.

The INSS warns that it does not send personal‑data requests via SMS or links, and that all communications are conducted through official channels such as Meu INSS, the gov.br portal, the 135 call center, or post offices.
