Brazil's INSS Announces New Benefits and Service Initiatives for 2026
The National Institute of Social Security (INSS) in Brazil has rolled out several measures affecting retirees and other beneficiaries in 2026.
A bill approved by the Chamber's Transport Committee (PL 1439/25) would grant free airline tickets to retirees who need to travel for medical treatment, pending further legislative approval.
The institute will pay the 13th‑salary bonus in November to beneficiaries who started receiving benefits from May 2026, following a government‑wide advance for those already receiving pensions earlier in the year.
A mobile service dubbed PREVBarco is sailing rivers in the North region, bringing on‑site pension, BPC and other assistance to isolated riverside, indigenous and quilombola communities until December.
The government is also considering a reduction of the maximum interest rate on INSS‑linked payroll‑loan (consignado) products, proposing a cut tied to the falling Selic rate.
Finally, a proposal under consideration in the Chamber would add a 5 % pension supplement per child (up to three) for women retirees, potentially increasing benefits by up to 15 % to recognize the impact of motherhood on career contributions.
