Brazil accelerates AI adoption in banking, government and insurance sectors

Itaú Unibanco introduced a generative‑AI chatbot called “ia. i” in its mobile app on 27 July 2024, initially reaching 300 000 customers with a goal of 1 million by September and full coverage by year‑end. The tool lets users ask financial questions and perform transactions via text or voice.

A recent TIC Governo 2025 survey shows that 59 % of Brazilian federal and state public agencies have deployed AI, with the judiciary at 94 % adoption, followed by the Ministério Público (92 %), the legislature (83 %) and the executive (55 %). Federal bodies use AI more (70 %) than state bodies (58 %).

In the insurance market, a study by CNseg and EY estimates that the sector will invest up to R$ 2.8 billion in AI by the end of 2026, and roughly 80 % of insurers already use AI for claims processing, product development and personalized coverage recommendations.
