Brazil's Jabuti Academic Award Announces Finalists for Third Edition

The Prêmio Jabuti Acadêmico, created in 2024 by the Câmara Brasileira do Livro, revealed the finalists of its third edition during the 78th annual meeting of the Sociedade Brasileira para o Progresso da Ciência (SBPC) in Niterói. The competition received 2,085 submissions, reflecting growing interest in scientific and academic publishing in Brazil.

The award ceremony is scheduled for 11 August at the Teatro Sérgio Cardoso in São Paulo, where winners will receive a R$5,000 prize and a Jabuti statuette. Among the finalists, Editora Moderna is represented by two titles: "Crescimento‑Aventura," a illustrated guide on puberty for young readers, and "Omodé Curumim: infâncias indígenas e afro‑brasileiras," a work promoting cultural diversity in early education.

The Jabuti Academic Award aims to increase the visibility of scholarly books beyond university circles, highlighting research that impacts education, health, technology, innovation and public policy.
