Brazil's June Green program launches sustainability and health actions in Marabá and Manaus

On June 11, the municipality of Marabá in Pará hosted the second June Green symposium, gathering public officials, researchers and community members to discuss urban health, water management, solid‑waste handling and the broader “One Health” approach. The event highlighted the city's challenges with heat islands, inadequate waste disposal and sanitation, and presented proposals for sustainable public‑policy measures.

The same day, Manaus’ Secretariat of Environment and Sustainability carried out a June Green activity in the Tupé Sustainable Development Reserve. Residents received information on sustainable‑development projects, a solar‑powered well system to improve water security, and a rabies‑vaccination campaign for dogs and cats. Partnerships with local institutes aimed to expand fruit‑tree nurseries and restore degraded lands, linking environmental recovery with new economic opportunities.
