Brazil's Mato Grosso hosts vibrant June cultural festivals in Cuiabá and Lucas do Rio Verde

In Cuiabá, the Siminina program’s 1º de Março unit held a June (festa junina) celebration that blended traditional folk activities with World Cup themes. Around 140 girls aged 6 to 14 participated in dances, games, and food stalls, while coordinator Ivete Carneiro emphasized the event’s role in teaching teamwork and social skills.

A few days later, Lucas do Rio Verde’s Concha Acústica hosted the city’s first "Arraiá da Cultura." Students from the municipal culture department performed music, ballet, urban dance, and a brass ensemble, and senior groups joined the quadrilha. Secretary of Culture Luciana Bauer highlighted the festival’s aim to bring families together and nurture young talent.

Both events, organized by local municipal agencies, showcased community participation across generations and aimed to preserve and celebrate regional cultural heritage.
