Brazil launches Enem 2026 study guide and STF equalizes maternity leave
The Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) has launched the ‘Guia do Enem’, a centralized digital platform designed to assist students preparing for the 2026 National High School Exam (Enem). The guide provides official tutorials, study methods, and video content covering various stages of the exam, from fee exemption requests to accessing higher education. It also features free mobile applications, including ‘MEC Enem’ for simulations and essay correction, ‘MEC Idiomas’ for language learning, and ‘MEC Livros’ for digital reading. Students can also use the ‘Página do Participante’ to access their confirmation cards, which contain essential details such as exam locations and schedules. The confirmation cards are expected to be released on October 20.
In a separate legal development, the Supreme Federal Court (STF) unanimously ruled to equalize maternity leave for biological and adoptive mothers. The decision, rapporteur Alexandre de Moraes, ensures a 120-day paid leave, with the possibility of a 60-day extension, regardless of the mother's employment type (CLT or public servant). This ruling applies to new and ongoing leaves, emphasizing that the right to leave is a protection for both the mother and the child.
