Fies 2026/2: Brazilian colleges must register remaining vacancies by Wednesday

Private higher education institutions in Brazil have until Wednesday, October 7, to formalize their participation in the Fies 2026/2 second semester selection process. This process allows colleges to offer remaining vacancies for the Student Financing Fund (Fies), a government program that covers tuition for students at MEC-evaluated private institutions, with repayment occurring after graduation.

To participate, institutions must electronically sign an adhesion term via the Sisfies system using a Gov.br login. They are required to provide details on the number of vacancies per course, shift, and location, as well as tuition values. Each course must offer at least six vacancies per shift and location. Institutions must also maintain a valid adhesion term with the Fies Guarantee Fund (FG-Fies).

For students, free registration for these remaining vacancies will take place from October 26 to November 3 through the Portal Acesso Único. Eligible candidates must have taken the Enem from 2010 onwards, achieved a minimum average of 450 points, and scored above zero on the essay. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a gross monthly family income of up to three minimum wages per person. The Fies Social modality will reserve 50% of the remaining vacancies for low-income students registered in CadÚnico with a per capita income of up to half a minimum wage.
