Brazil's SUS Digital launches 'Pode Falar' mental‑health platform for youth
The Ministry of Health, in partnership with UNICEF, has introduced the "Pode Falar" platform within the Meu SUS Digital mobile application. The service offers free, qualified listening and guidance to young people aged 13‑24, with the option of anonymous access. Users first interact with a chatbot; if needed, the conversation is escalated to human tele‑attendance.
Tele‑attendances are carried out by supervised undergraduate and graduate students in psychology, medicine and education. An artificial‑intelligence tool scans messages to flag high‑risk cases for immediate priority. The platform currently averages 1,100 attendances per month and, after integration with the app, is expected to reach about 11,000 monthly contacts. It operates Monday to Saturday, 8 am–10 pm Brasília time.
The initiative aims to reduce barriers to mental‑health care, especially for youths who have not yet sought in‑person services, and to provide a safe, accessible entry point into the public health system.
