João Pessoa early‑childhood teachers attend immersive arts training

On August 7 2026, more than 500 early‑childhood educators from João Pessoa’s municipal school network gathered at the Estação Cabo Branco – Ciência, Cultura e Artes for an immersive training session organized by the city’s Secretaria de Educação e Cultura. The event was part of the Programa Leitura e Escrita na Educação Infantil (ProLEEI) and aimed to enrich teachers’ pedagogical repertoire with local art and culture, while also preparing them for the upcoming Festival de Arte da Primeira Infância (Fapi).

Director of the Department of Early Childhood Education, Prof. Maria Sonaly Machado de Lima, emphasized that professional development must go beyond theory, stating, “We bring art, culture and childhood as structural axes of learning and development.” Participants toured the museum’s collections with arte‑educators Carlos Souza and Wellandro Duarte, viewing works such as ‘No Reinar do Sol’ by Flávio Tavares, the ‘Sinergia’ exhibition by Cine Azevedo, and the ‘A Vida’ collection by Olâmpio Neto. Supervisor Ednilza Melo noted that the experience strengthens ongoing pedagogical projects and helps children develop a deeper connection to their regional heritage.
