Brazil's National ODS Conference Highlights Racial Equality Initiative

From June 30 to July 2, Brazil held its first National Conference on the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS) in Brasília. The Ministry of Racial Equality (MIR) used the event to showcase progress on ODS 18 – Ethnic‑Racial Equality – and backed the launch of a new Caixa Econômica Federal funding call that will allocate up to R$10 million to urban projects promoting racial equity.

The conference gathered more than 720 municipal delegations, including the city of Mairiporã, and involved over 31,000 participants through a series of regional and digital consultations. Delegates discussed integrating racial justice, environmental concerns and climate impacts into Brazil’s 2030 agenda, with proposals set to be forwarded to the federal government for policy implementation.
