Brazil's 2nd Road Safety Congress Boosts Emergency Rescue Training

The 2nd Congresso Nacional de Emergência e Segurança Viária (Conesv) convened in Cuiabá’s Parque Novo Mato Grosso, drawing representatives from 26 Brazilian states, the Federal District and four foreign countries (Portugal, Argentina, Peru and Costa Rica). Participants exchanged best practices to strengthen and standardise protocols for traffic‑accident rescue, including the Stop‑the‑Bleed and Rescue Training courses and technical challenges such as the National Vehicle‑Rescue and Trauma Challenge and the Holmatro Experience. Organisers highlighted the need for rapid, coordinated care—often called the “golden hour”—to improve survival rates in high‑severity crashes.

Separately, the 1st Simpósio do SAMU Regional Campo Grande, held on 25 June, brought together more than 200 health‑emergency professionals from Campo Grande and eleven neighboring municipalities. The symposium focused on “Protocol 192,” a plan for responding to multiple‑victim incidents, covering triage systems (START/JumpSTART), resource allocation and inter‑agency coordination. Speakers underscored continuous training as essential to saving lives during large‑scale emergencies.
