Cuiabá hosts National Vehicle Rescue Challenge with 46 teams
From June 24‑26, the Parque Novo Mato Grosso in Cuiabá will host the National Vehicle Rescue Challenge, the flagship event of the 2nd edition of the Congresso Nacional de Emergência e Segurança Viária (Conesv). Forty‑six teams representing 16 Brazilian states will compete in two categories – vehicle rescue and trauma – with 23 teams in each.
The teams, composed of military and volunteer firefighters, health professionals and specialist rescuers, will tackle simulated traffic‑accident scenarios that test skills such as vehicle extrication, mechanical stabilization, scene management and pre‑hospital care. Evaluation will consider technical precision, adherence to safety protocols, response time and overall risk mitigation. Two of the participating teams are exclusively female, highlighting growing female involvement in emergency operations.
Organisers say the competition serves as a high‑level training and knowledge‑exchange platform, aiming to standardise rescue techniques nationwide and improve survival chances for victims of serious road accidents. The event will be complemented by lectures, panels and practical courses on hemorrhage control, advanced rescue, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, featuring experts from Brazil, Europe, the United States and Latin America.
