Brazil's Neymar to Miss Group-Stage Matches After First Training at World Cup

Neymar was named by coach Carlo Ancelotti in Brazil's 26‑player squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He trained for the first time on June 16 in New Jersey, but a calf injury limits his participation and he is not expected to feature in the opening group‑stage games.

Brazil opened the tournament with a 1‑1 draw against Morocco and currently sits third in the group. Upcoming matches are against Haiti and Scotland. The Brazilian federation said Neymar is focusing on cardiovascular work while avoiding further muscle strain, hoping for a possible return later in the tournament.
