Brazil's Northeast hosts series of recycling and circular economy events

The municipality of Serra Talhada in Pernambuco will hold the I Forum on Recycling and Circular Economy of the Sertão on 11 June 2026. Organized by the city’s Environment Secretariat, the forum will bring together public managers, experts, cooperatives, schools and businesses to discuss solid‑waste management, selective collection, reverse logistics and circular‑economy practices. Mayor Márcia Conrado underscored the goal of strengthening municipal environmental policies and promoting sustainable development.

In Amazonas, the State Legislative Assembly’s Environment Commission will host “Dia Verde na Aleam” on 10 June 2026. The event, led by Deputy Joana Darc, aims to raise awareness of proper recycling and electronic‑waste disposal. Since its launch in 2024, the initiative has collected more than one tonne of recyclable material and about 500 kg in 2025.

The Federal Court in Alagoas (JFAL) will mark its Environmental Week from 8–12 June 2026 with a series of actions, including the installation of a dedicated collection point for used lamps and a round‑table discussion with the Cooplum recycling cooperative and waste‑management firm Qualitec. The program also distributes plant seedlings to staff, reinforcing the court’s sustainability plan.
