Brazil's oil and gas output rose 4.3% in June 2026, reaching a historic 5.842 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d). Oil production hit 4.475 million barrels per day, up 4% from May and 19.1% versus June 2025, while natural‑gas output climbed to 217.3 million cubic metres per day, a 5.5% month‑on‑month increase and 19.7% above the same month a year earlier.

The pre‑salt basin supplied 82% of the total, delivering 4.788 million boe/d. Petrobras and its consortium accounted for 87.08% of the national output. The offshore Buzios field led oil production with about 1.02 million barrels per day, followed by Tupi and Mero, which together contributed roughly 60% of total output.

Gas utilisation remained high at 97%, with 64.36 million m³/d supplied to the market. Flaring rose to 6.63 million m³/d, a 10.1% year‑on‑year increase, attributed mainly to the commissioning of the P‑79 platform in the Buzios field. The surge in production also drove a 1,629% real‑terms rise in tax revenue from the sector compared with June 2025, supporting temporary fuel‑price subsidies amid higher global commodity prices.
