Brazil's Online Pet Adoption Exhibit Highlights Growing Companion Animal Bond

A free virtual exhibition called “A vida que compartilhamos” was launched in Brazil to celebrate stories of people who have adopted dogs or cats. The showcase, based on a GoldeN research survey, notes that eight out of ten adoptions in the country occur informally through rescues or gifts among friends, reflecting a culture of solidarity. The exhibition invites the public to view and share personal anecdotes that illustrate how pets become integral parts of everyday life.

In Spain, child‑development experts emphasised the emotional and social benefits of pet ownership for children, while warning that a pet is not a toy. Psychologist Marcelo Freitas explained that caring for an animal can foster empathy, responsibility and coping skills, but the primary duty for feeding, health and welfare must remain with adults. The article offers practical guidance on evaluating space, time, cost and family readiness before bringing a pet into a household.
