Brazil's Pato Bragado launches August Blue men's health campaign

The municipality of Pato Bragado, together with the local commercial association (Acibra), organized a month‑long "Agosto Azul" program to raise awareness of men's health. Activities began on August 4 with a lecture by clinician Luis Rafael Perez Naranjo on self‑care, physical and mental health, followed by free PSA testing, rapid HIV, syphilis and hepatitis screening, dental checks, vaccinations, blood pressure and glucose measurements, nursing triage and nutrition assessments. The campaign will conclude on August 29 with a dedicated day of medical services for men at the local health unit.

Separately, the Brazilian Society of Urology highlighted that many men delay medical care, with 46% of those over 40 seeking help only when symptomatic. Urologist Luiz Carlos recommended ten preventive exams for men at age 40, including complete blood count, lipid profile, testosterone levels, and PSA testing, emphasizing early detection to improve quality of life.
