Brazil's petrochemical firms launch Braskem contest and ABIPET PET forum to boost community and circularity
Braskem, the global petrochemical company, opened registrations for the new edition of its "Ações que Transformam" contest in Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro. The competition seeks social and environmental projects in communities surrounding Braskem’s operations, offering R$15,000, R$10,000 and R$5,000 for the top three entries. Submissions are accepted from 27 July to 28 August and are judged on relevance, impact and transformation potential in the categories of Environmental Awareness and Social Awareness.
Separately, the Brazilian Association of the PET Industry (ABIPET) hosted a forum titled "PET: Competitividade e Circularidade em uma Única Embalagem" during the Interplast exhibition in Joinville, Santa Catarina, on 27 August. The event gathered specialists, executives and representatives from companies such as GNEUSS, Valgroup, Indorama Ventures, Erema and Starlinger to discuss regulatory changes, chemical recycling, circular packaging, and new PET polymerization technologies. Registration was free and aimed at manufacturers, recyclers, converters and brand owners seeking to improve competitiveness while advancing material circularity.
