Brazil's Liberal Party tops 2026 election funding, overtaking PT

The Liberal Party (PL) secured the largest share of parliamentary amendments for the first half of 2026, with R$ 3.10 billion allocated, while the Workers' Party (PT) received R$ 2.16 billion. Together with the PSD and União Brasil, the four parties accounted for R$ 9.43 billion, representing 46.4% of the total amendment resources released after a government decree accelerated disbursements in April and May.

The Superior Electoral Court announced the distribution of the 2026 electoral fund, totaling R$ 4.9 billion. PL will receive R$ 882.6 million (about 18% of the fund), more than triple its 2022 allocation, and PT will obtain R$ 615.4 million (12%). The fund is allocated based on parties' congressional representation, with a fixed 2% share for all parties and 35% proportional to votes in the Chamber of Deputies.
