Brazil's Procon agencies hold consumer rights education events in Belém and Campina Grande
The Pará State Consumer Protection Department (Procon Pará) conducted an on‑site outreach campaign on 24 March at bars and restaurants in Belém. Officials distributed informational material and explained common consumer‑rights questions such as cover charges, service fees, price display, payment methods and how to file complaints. The activity coincided with the heightened foot traffic of the World Cup and involved law students from Faculdade Finama, who observed real‑world consumer disputes.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Procon of Campina Grande organized the III Consumer Law Update Seminar on 29 March at the OAB Campina Grande auditorium. The six‑hour event, co‑hosted with the local bar association and the Superior School of Advocacy, featured speakers on topics including credit‑card margin reservations, fuel‑market regulation, strategies against super‑indebtedness, financial education, and ethical challenges in supplemental health plans. The seminar offered 15 certificate hours for legal professionals, students and merchants, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to consumer‑education and rights protection across Brazil.
