Brazil's PT and PL parties clash over legal and recruitment controversies

In Brazil, senatorial candidate Silvio Nascimento (PL) responded to a court order filed by Senator Humberto Costa (PT) that forced the removal of a video posted by Nascimento’s son, Pedro, which referenced past scandals. Nascimento acknowledged the injunction, argued the video was not false but mis‑contextualized, and pledged to continue challenging Costa in debates and elections.

Separately, state deputy Luciane Carminatti (PT) criticised PL deputy Ivan Naatz after he claimed PL mayors in Santa Catarina joined the party in exchange for parliamentary amendments. Carminatti called the allegation a serious scheme that used public funds to boost PL membership and demanded accountability from the implicated mayors. Both incidents underscore escalating partisan tensions between Brazil’s PT and PL factions.
