Brazil's Public Prosecutor Office Publishes 2019‑2025 Activity Report and 2026 Election Guide

The National Council of the Public Prosecutor's Office (CNMP) released the 14th edition of the panel “Ministério Público: Um Retrato”, consolidating data on the structure, budget, information technology and performance of all Brazilian prosecutor branches from 2019 to 2025. The report, presented by counselor Márcio Barra Lima, also announced a new automated system that will require all branches to send procedural data directly to the National Database of Prosecutorial Processes (BDP) starting in 2028, aimed at improving data accuracy and transparency.

The Electoral Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP Eleitoral) launched the guide “Por Dentro das Eleições 2026”, a handbook for journalists covering the upcoming elections. The guide explains the functioning of the electoral justice system, common irregularities, and new rules on artificial intelligence, deep‑fakes and disinformation. It was presented to more than 150 journalists during an online course on AI and disinformation, co‑hosted with the Institute of Technology and Society (ITS Rio). The material lists typical electoral crimes, possible sanctions and provides channels for reporting violations.
