Acre and Rondônia public ministries file environmental and animal protection suits

In the Brazilian state of Acre, the State Public Prosecutor's Office filed a civil action requesting that the municipality of Sena Madureira adopt a comprehensive animal protection plan, establish a Center for Zoonoses Control within 180 days, and implement vaccination, sterilization, responsible ownership education, and foster care programs for dogs and cats.

Also in Acre, the Institute of Environment (Imac) issued Portaria 85, setting rules for the use of the S‑IMAC digital platform to process environmental inspection actions. The regulation requires training of staff from Imac, the state military police and fire brigade, mandates electronic signatures, and allows citizens to monitor their cases online.

In Rondônia, the State Public Prosecutor filed a civil public action seeking urgent measures against individuals responsible for illegal clearing of more than 1,200 hectares of Amazon forest in Machadinho do Oeste. The suit demands an immediate halt to the activities, full environmental restoration, and compensation exceeding R$90 million for ecological and climate damages.
