Brazil's R$ 1 trillion public procurement market could boost small businesses
Sebrae reports that Brazil's public procurement market, which moves over R$ 1 trillion annually, represents a significant growth lever for small businesses. A guide released by the entity suggests that reducing bureaucratic hurdles and strategically utilizing acquisitions by federal, state, and municipal governments could stimulate local economies and productive chains.
Despite this potential, entrepreneurs face challenges such as slow processes, overlapping requirements between different government levels, and high compliance costs. Rodrigo Soares, president of Sebrae, emphasized that public purchasing should be treated as a strategic tool for economic and social transformation rather than just a mechanism for acquiring goods and services.
