Rádio Nacional launches 90‑episode documentary series to mark 90th anniversary

Brazil's public broadcaster Rádio Nacional, part of the Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC), began airing a special documentary series titled “90 anos em 90 histórias” on Monday, 15 June. The series consists of 90 daily episodes of about six minutes each, broadcast at 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Brasília time across the national radio network and made available online through the Rádio Nacional website and Spotify.

The production was led by journalists Guilherme Strozi, Raquel Júnia and César Faccioli, with research drawn from EBC’s archives, the Public Archive of Brasília, the National Archive and the Museum of Image and Sound. Director‑general of EBC Thiago Regotto described it as the first time the station has created a dedicated project to revisit its own history, aiming to build an integrated audio timeline from the 1930s to the present. The series features interviews with former and current staff, scholars, artists and other figures such as Erika Herd, Luiz Antonio Simas and former Radiobrás president Eugênio Bucci, highlighting Rádio Nacional’s role in shaping Brazil’s cultural identity.
