Brazil's Rádio Relógio and Rádio Nacional launch new documentary series

CrysNews released a four‑part audio‑documentary podcast, “Resgate Radiofônico: A História da Rádio Relógio,” exploring the origins and influence of the Rio‑based Rádio Relógio Federal, a station that reached 76 % of households without playing music. Hosted by journalist Crystopher Leforte, the series examines the station’s programming, its political use during Brazil’s military regime, and its cultural impact on figures such as Clarice Lispector.

To mark its 90‑year anniversary, Brazil’s public broadcaster Rádio Nacional aired a new videocast episode of the “Rádio Memória” series titled “Rainhas do Rádio.” The program revisits the historic rivalry between singers Emilinha Borba and Marlene for the title of “Rainha do Rádio,” featuring interviews, archival footage and commentary on the lasting legacy of the golden age of Brazilian radio.

Both releases aim to preserve and re‑examine pivotal moments in Brazil’s radio heritage.
