Brazil's samba festivals kick off on August 2 in Bahia and Rio

Two major samba celebrations are set for August 2 in Brazil. In Feira de Santana, Bahia, the Unidos pelo Samba collective will host a roda de samba at the Centro de Convenções, featuring local singer Maryzélia and Rio‑born sambista Mingo Silva. The event blends traditional music with folklore characters, a child‑friendly program, and an arts market.

In the Baixada Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro, the Grande Rio venue will stage the first edition of the Samba, Feijão & Resenha festival. It marks the official debut of Ito Melodia as the lead voice of Acadêmicos do Grande Rio and includes performances by Renan Oliveira, Terreiro de Crioulo and other prominent samba acts, alongside a traditional feijoada.

Both festivals aim to promote Brazilian popular culture, combining live samba, food and community activities for families and visitors.
