Brazil's Santos and Cabo Frio hold beach sports festivals
The Novo Quebra‑Mar in Santos hosted the inaugural edition of the Jogos de Praia de Santos over a weekend, gathering 380 men and women (total 440 participants) to compete in futevôlei, beach tennis and longboard. Organisers highlighted the event’s aim to foster integration among different beach‑related sports, with Secretary of Sports Rogério Sampaio noting the mult‑sport experience for athletes.
In Cabo Frio, the Grão de Areia beach‑soccer festival took place at the Recanto das Dunas, marking its third season. The socio‑educational project, backed by Enel Rio, brought together children and adolescents aged 7‑14 from local schools for a tournament, clinics with project patrons and prize draws. Founded by FIFA‑certified instructor Marcelo Mendes, the initiative serves over a thousand youths across three Rio de Janeiro sites, emphasizing inclusion, health and education through beach soccer.
