Brazil's Semu Program Graduates 45 Women as Administrative Assistants

The Secretaria Executiva da Mulher (Semu) completed a session of its Escola de Capacitação para Mulheres (Escap) on Thursday night (23), awarding certificates to 45 women who finished a course for Administrative Assistants. The initiative seeks to expand technical knowledge, personal development, and job prospects for women, many of whom had been out of formal education for years. Semu head Angélica Fontanari said, “Each completed class represents new opportunities for these women. Qualification opens doors to the labour market and also strengthens self‑esteem, financial independence and confidence.” Participants highlighted the practical skills gained: Eva Madalena, 55, praised learning public service, communication and core administrative tasks; Lara Costa noted that the training exceeded expectations and supports her work as a social educator. Community president Rosana Anunciação emphasized that offering courses in neighbourhoods makes them accessible to women who cannot travel to city centres.
