Following a Federal Police operation that seized cash, luxury watches and a high‑value apartment linked to Senator Jaques Wagner, the government‑aligned bloc in the Senate is considering a replacement for Wagner as leader of the government caucus. President Luiz Inácio Lula is expected to meet Wagner within the next week to discuss a possible resignation. Former Education Minister Camilo Santana of Ceará has emerged as the frontrunner to assume the post, with party insiders describing him as the only senator capable of steering the government's agenda in the chamber.
