Brazil's Social Affairs Commission approves breast cancer inclusion program

The Social Affairs Commission (CAS) has approved a bill to create the ‘Empresa Rosa’ Program and the ‘Selo Rosa’ (Pink Seal) in Brazil. The initiative aims to promote the inclusion and professional reintegration of women diagnosed with, undergoing treatment for, or awaiting remission from breast cancer.

Supported by Senator Flávio Arns, the project seeks to raise corporate awareness and encourage non-discriminatory hiring practices. Participating companies would be expected to ensure equal opportunities and provide working conditions tailored to the needs of these women. The initiative also includes measures for awareness regarding prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

According to the National Cancer Institute (Inca), an average of 73,000 breast cancer cases are expected to be recorded annually between 2023 and 2025. Proponents of the bill noted that maintaining professional activity can provide significant psychological support to patients by helping to prevent depression.
