Brazilian Public Prosecutor's Office opens internships, expands victim support

The Ministério Público Federal (MPF) announced new internship selections in three states. In Roraima, a second 2026 postgraduate‑level program opened for applications from 30 July to 16 August, offering a stipend of R$ 2,640 and a daily transport allowance of R$ 12. In Paraíba, the first 2026 internship round opened for undergraduate and postgraduate students with similar application dates, stipends of R$ 1,320 (undergraduate) and R$ 2,640 (postgraduate) and the same transport allowance. The MPF office in Tocantins (MPF/TO) also launched vacancies for medium‑level, undergraduate and postgraduate students, applying the same timelines, stipends and transport aid, and reserving 10 % of seats for people with disabilities, 30 % for Black candidates and 10 % for other ethnic minorities.

The Ministério Público do Ceará (MPCE) will present the Sistema de Acolhimento Local à Vítimas de Violência (SALVV) on 14 August, inviting municipal leaders to sign a term of interest and establish local victim‑assistance units staffed by psychologists, social workers and lawyers. Meanwhile, the Ministério Público do Estado de Alagoas (MPAL) filed a civil public action seeking full compensation for victims of the Serra da Barriga bus crash, securing an interim court order covering medical and psychological costs while a final judgment is pending.

The Ministério Público de Roraima (MPRR) opened a credentialing process for psychologists, social workers, lawyers and administrative staff to work in the Núcleo de Apoio às Vítimas de Crimes e Atos Infracionais e Familiares (NAVeF), paying hourly rates of R$ 56.48 for most professions and R$ 28.24 for administrative assistants. In Socorro, the first meeting of the Municipal Network for Protection and Confrontation of Violence against Women was held, gathering representatives from the public prosecutor’s office, police, health, justice and civil society to coordinate integrated assistance and prevention measures.
