Brazil's street race safety plan and China's national exercise campaign unveiled

The São Paulo municipal government released a draft Street Race Safety Plan that will require every road race in the city to have a designated medical team, ambulances, defibrillators and other resources proportionate to participant numbers, age groups and weather conditions. Organisers must appoint a certified medical professional to prepare a Medical Care Plan, and the city will open the draft for public comment. Officials warned that the added costs could affect smaller, community‑run events.

Separately, the Chinese government announced an expanded national fitness programme aimed at making regular physical activity a permanent part of daily life. The plan includes building more than five million new sports facilities by 2025, establishing community fitness centres that combine exercise equipment with health monitoring, and setting a target for 40 % of the population to exercise regularly by 2030. The initiative is presented as a public‑health strategy to prevent disease and improve overall quality of life.
